Alfonso Corsaro is a painter of extraordinary inventiveness, capable of creating works in which the typical alienation of surrealism is expressed in elaborate compositions which, however, tend towards a process of abstraction of pure shapes and colors.

Abstraction is, in fact, for Corsaro, the key to enter the dimension of the oniric in which the protagonists of his complicated iconographies born from the subconscious move.

Corsaro's path certainly starts from the dream, from mechanical writing, which produces unusual combinations of animated and non-animated subjects on his canvases.

The alienating presence of these subjects, consequently, triggers a process of synthesis, in some cases geometric, in others biomorphic, which opens the door to a dimension different from reality, made of pure lines and colors.

The technique used by Corsaro is essentially drawing, he does not concede anything to pictorial effects, showing an affinity with the tendency to hyper-realism typical of historical surrealists.

All this is combined with a brilliant color range, with bright tones, which livens up the works making them more effective even on an expressionistic level.

However, there is a certain tendency to compress everything into a substantially two-dimensional space by reducing the representation of things with an attitude that can be defined as minimalist.

In this way the purity of the lines and colors that makes Alfonso Corsaro's works stand out as true masterpieces of geometric and chromatic balances stands out.
