Giuseppe Palermo, born in 1973, was born and raised immersed in the profound cultural landscape suggestions of the Amalfi coast.
From his Sicilian father, a cabinetmaker, he inherited the feverish research typical of the craftsman, all focused on materials and form.
It is precisely this almost vital need “to do” that characterizes the training of “Pepe”, a multifaceted artist determined not to surrender to the boundaries of materials and figures, as in the dream of an eternal child.
Today the artist, craftsman and man's will is to continue to strike with his sensorial provocations, for an audience that knows how to enjoy them freely without preconceptions.
In the search for the meaning of his own creativity, the artist ranges between the experimentation of materials and the play of techniques, bringing together knowledge and imagination, practice and mental tension, reaffirming the value of manual skill and the pleasure of executing the work, indifferently shaping the material, designing the surfaces, or expressing himself in original combine paintings.
The eclectic analysis leads, from time to time, from the limits of an abstract aesthetic to the conceptual, from the informal, both symbolic and material, aseptic or ungraceful and ungainly to the lyrical and serene figurative, sometimes clownish.
The phenomenon, where it is present, emerges and sinks back into the matter, denying full representativeness to the works.
This demiurgic game of art germinates modern totemic fetishes that, if they can, boil, swell, ring in celebration, reappropriating the space denied by cosmic networks and by the frames that support them, imprisoning them.
